Self-catering accommodation in hilltop village near Lucca and tuscan travel guide
Celle dei Puccini is named after the famous composer family Puccini, who lived in this small hamlet sitting above the village of Diecimo approximately 12km from the ancient walled city of Lucca. Celle like so many Tuscan settlements, clings to the side of a hill overlooking valleys, hillsides and mountains with terraced vineyards and olive groves. Celle is picturesque and a peaceful place, totally unspoiled and it retains its slow tempo and traditional way of life. It has been the home of generations of Italian families who still cultivate the surrounding land.
The first building to be built in Celle in 1594 was in an almost ruined state when we purchased it in 2004. We have now converted this extensive property into 4 spacious and very individual holiday lets and a 12m x 4.5m swimming pools has been set in the grounds surrounded by grapevines and olive groves. In addition to these 4 we have a separate 2 bedroomed house close by.
The countryside surrounding Celle is a delight and there are pleasant walks into the woods and across the hillside. The slopes are resplendant with wild flowers, seemingly at all seasons and this makes a perfect setting for a painting holiday.
Our classically Italian accommodation has been lovingly restored and retains their ancient Tuscan charm. Ideal for independent holiday makers who want to discover the real Tuscany!
