PONTE SOSPESO SUSPENDED BRIDGE
It is one of the longest footbridges in the world and is 220 meters long and about 1 meter wide with a height of 40 meters at the point of greatest height. It was inaugurated in 1922 and only took 2 years to complete.
It is constructed with steel cables, anchored with thick chains to massive concrete blocks. There are also guy ropes for further security.
Today the bridge represents an important tourist attraction, but originally it was an important shortcut for the workers living on each side of the valley.
